Internode: Interworking of nomadic multi-domain services

INTERNODE: Interworking of Nomadic Multi-Domain Services (2000 - 2002). IST-1999-20117. Performance evaluation of secure VPN over GPRS. Finished.

Description

The universality of the IP protocol will continue to be a driving force of the global IT economy, but mobile wireless access is regarded as the technology of choice for allowing users to access all the potential applications and location dependent services anywhere anytime, with special requirements regarding ease of use, confidentiality, and cultural diversity in the European market.

The overall scope of the INTERNODE proposal is to investigate, enhance and demonstrate on a real network, technologies for the efficient provisioning and service level interworking of IP VPN services for nomadic users across multi-domain and heterogeneous networks. INTERNODE will address multi-domain heterogeneous (Wireless LAN, GPRS/UMTS and Next Generation IP based networks with mobility features) inter-working and security standards supporting access to Internet and Intranet services.
